Year two at the family garage was much less work. Our major customizations took place last year and we have been thrilled with the results. But a few problems in need of a solution have come up over the winter and we took advantage of the long weekend to knock some things out.

Our biggest complaint in the past year of trailering has been the lack of storage for all of our toys. Last year we built the kayak rack, but this cuts down on truck bed storage space. Our trailer came with a ladder rack for our bikes, but we never felt it was a particularly secure option. By the time we adequately bungeed the bikes, they tended to rub on each other and parts of the trailer. Continue reading “Modapalooza 2.0”

Modapalooza 2017

While July 4th may mean fireworks and barbecue for some, we have been looking forward to three long days at the best garage I know of – my parents’ house. My dad has been working on vehicles for more than half a century and my mom has the decor skills to match. Three days in the Faber Garage is enough to make any trailer completely custom.

On the agenda for the weekend:

  1. Install the tile backsplash.
  2. Create the kitchen valance.
  3. Build a kayak rack for the truck.
  4. Install roof vent cover
  5. Reinforce the fresh water tank.
  6. Destuff the sofa.
  7. Hang the pictures.
  8. Sew curtains.
  9. Install paper towel holder.
  10. Install reading lights.
  11. Hang shower caddy.
  12. Install sway bar.
  13. Install leveler on tongue.
  14. Second battery.
  15. Pick up generators.
